The Yemeni Initiative for Peace and Development (YIPD) will convene a broad consultative meeting online on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST) and 5:00 p.m. Yemen time. The meeting aims to expand national engagement with the Salzburg Process for Peace and Development and to strengthen support for inclusive peacebuilding and development efforts in Yemen.

The event will bring together political leaders, academics, civil society representatives, community initiatives, and experts on Yemeni affairs to discuss ways of broadening participation in ongoing efforts to promote peace, recovery, and sustainable development.

The meeting will be chaired by Dr. Adel Al-Shujaa. Opening remarks will be delivered by Mr. Nooh Aljaseri, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Initiative for Peace and Development, who will outline the Initiative’s vision for strengthening national dialogue and expanding participation in the Salzburg Process.

Former President Ali Nasser Mohammed will also address participants, highlighting the importance of civic engagement and community-led initiatives in supporting peacebuilding efforts and fostering a culture of dialogue and cooperation.

Reviewing the Outcomes of the Salzburg Conference

A dedicated session will be devoted to reviewing the outcomes of the International Conference on Peace and Development in Yemen, held in Salzburg, Austria. Engineer Mohammed Al-Zarnouqi will present the conference’s key conclusions and recommendations, focusing on the opportunities they offer for strengthening national partnerships and advancing the objectives of the Salzburg Process for Peace and Development.

Five Key Themes for Discussion

The consultative meeting will be structured around five thematic sessions addressing some of the most pressing issues facing Yemen’s peace and development agenda.

The first session, led by Mr. Abdulaziz Jubari, will examine the requirements for building broad national consensus around peace and the importance of engaging diverse political and social actors in shaping a shared vision for ending the conflict.

In the second session, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi will discuss the relationship between peace and development, with a particular focus on economic recovery priorities and the restoration of trust in public institutions as essential pillars of sustainable peace.

The third session, presented by Dr. Fairoz Al-Wali, will explore the importance of widening societal participation in peacebuilding efforts, including the role of women, young people, and civil society organizations in shaping Yemen’s future.

The fourth session, led by Mr. Saleh Al-Jubwani, will address the links between development and peace, examining both the opportunities and challenges associated with achieving sustainable development that contributes to long-term stability.

The fifth session, presented by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shami, will focus on prospects for economic and social reform within the framework of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, highlighting the importance of policies that strengthen institutions and improve living conditions for citizens.

Strengthening National Participation

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to expand national participation in the Salzburg Process for Peace and Development and to encourage constructive dialogue among Yemen’s political, social, and civic stakeholders.

Participants are expected to contribute ideas and recommendations that can help build broader national consensus, support efforts to end the conflict, and advance a more stable, peaceful, and prosperous future for Yemen.
