Amman – 19 May 2026
The Yemeni Initiative for Peace and Development convened a high-level meeting in Amman with the Head of the Political Affairs Section at the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and expand the role of civil society in supporting Yemen’s peace process.
The Initiative’s delegation included Secretary-General Noah Al-Jasari, International Coordinator Hadvegh Rotscherdl, Head of Political Affairs Dr Adel Al-Shojaa, and Media Officer Amal Abdullah.
During the meeting, the delegation presented the Initiative’s official position paper to the Office of the Special Envoy. The document outlined the outcomes of the International Conference for Peace and Development in Yemen, held in Salzburg in April, and included a number of recommendations aimed at supporting an inclusive peace process and enhancing institutional engagement with the United Nations.
Discussions focused on opportunities for closer cooperation in supporting community-driven and political initiatives that contribute to peacebuilding efforts, as well as the importance of greater coordination among key stakeholders to improve prospects for a sustainable resolution to the Yemeni crisis.
Representatives of the Initiative stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration with the Office of the UN Special Envoy in support of initiatives aimed at easing humanitarian suffering and advancing a comprehensive and lasting peace process. The Head of the Political Affairs Section, in turn, commended the Initiative’s role in encouraging dialogue and promoting a culture of peace.
The meeting comes within the framework of continued efforts to enhance coordination between Yemeni initiatives and international actors engaged in the Yemeni file, in line with the Yemeni people’s aspirations for peace, stability, and security.
